Simon's Voice Note: “Even If It’s By One Finger, Hold On”

Sky Sports presenter Simon Thomas has shared an unfiltered message of hope with Say It Lad, speaking directly to anyone caught in a dark place.

A Message of Hope

In the voice note, Simon opened up about the sudden death of his first wife. She passed away in just three days following a diagnosis, leaving him to raise their eight-year-old son alone. What followed, he said, were some of the hardest months of his life.

“I went to some really dark places, places where I felt crippled by fear and anxiety,” Simon said. “There were two times over that period where I nearly gave up on everything. I nearly gave up on life.”

He explained that it was the thought of his son that kept him alive. But he made clear how overwhelming it was to feel abandoned and hopeless. His message to the lads listening was simple: get through today.

One Day at a Time

“Don’t think about tomorrow, don’t think about next week or next month,” Simon said. “Even if you can only hold on to today by one single finger, hold on."

Simon described survival as breaking life down into the smallest possible steps. “I’d get through today, then tomorrow I’d go again, and then the next day I’d go again.”

He also reminded anyone struggling that their life holds equal weight. “Every single life on planet Earth right now matters. No one life is more important than yours.”

The Importance of Connection

This is why Say It Lad exists. To give men a place to hold on. To share their story without fear. To listen to voices like Simon’s and know survival is possible, even on the darkest days.

We all face our battles. It's crucial to remember that we’re not alone. We can lean on each other. Sharing our experiences can lighten the load.

Building a Supportive Community

At Say It Lad, we strive to create a supportive community. We want to encourage men to speak up and connect with others who understand. It’s about sharing struggles and triumphs.

When we open up, we create a space for healing. It’s okay to not be okay. We can find strength in vulnerability.

Finding Strength in Vulnerability

Vulnerability is often seen as a weakness. But it’s not. It takes courage to share our feelings. It takes bravery to admit when we’re struggling.

By sharing our stories, we inspire others. We show them that it’s okay to seek help. We remind them that they are not alone in their struggles.

Embracing the Journey

Life is a journey filled with ups and downs. It’s important to embrace both. The tough times shape us. They teach us resilience.

Let’s support each other through this journey. Let’s lift each other up. Together, we can create a community where everyone feels valued and heard.

Conclusion

In the end, we all want to feel connected. We want to know that our struggles matter. We want to find hope in the darkness.

Let’s make a commitment to each other. Let’s be there for one another. Let’s share our stories and support each other.

Remember, every single life matters. You are not alone. Together, we can navigate this journey of life, one day at a time.
